LAYERS

Each mattress model has its own layer combination, but the layers will always be in the same order from bottom to top: Base, Support, Comfort. This is the reason our mattresses cannot be flipped.

Base Layer

Every model starts with a durable Base Layer. Under the Comfort and Support Layers, it serves as the "base" for the TEMPUR® material layers. In addition to providing a sturdy foundation, this essential layer helps disperse heat from the mattress while you sleep.

Support Layer

Located above the base material, this layer provides essential support and helps distribute body weight evenly across the mattress. The Support Layer includes a proprietary formulation of TEMPUR® material.

Comfort Layer

This is the top layer of your Tempur-Pedic mattress and helps determine its "feel" (soft, medium or firm) for personalized comfort and support. The Comfort Layer is also constructed from one-of-a-kind TEMPUR® material.

ORIGINAL TEMPUR®

Originally formulated to absorb the G-Force of NASA astronauts traveling into space and then perfected by us for sleepers — it's as comfortable and supportive as it is iconic.

TEMPUR-ES® (Extra Soft)

The tighter, slightly rougher cell structure of TEMPUR-ES® creates a softer feel that works in combination with other layers to support and relax.

TEMPUR-APR®, TEMPUR-APR+™, & VENTILATED TEMPUR-APR®

Our newest and most pressure-relieving material: Advanced Pressure Relief. This material is now available in three different versions: APR, APR+, and Ventilated APR — all designed for deeper, more rejuvenating sleep. APR+ delivers all the pressure relief of original APR with a tighter, more advanced cell structure for ultra-conforming comfort. Ventilated APR combines our most pressure-relieving material ever with an all-new, ultra-breathable design that’s featured exclusively in our TEMPUR-LUXEbreeze° series.

SMARTCLIMATE® DUAL COVER SYSTEM VS. SMARTCLIMATE^® MAX DUAL COVER SYSTEM

The SmartClimate^® Dual Cover System features next-generation technology with a zip-off, cool-to-touch outer layer that’s machine washable and a super-stretch inner panel for convenience and comfort. This system is featured in our Adapt™ Collection.

The SmartClimate® Max Dual Cover System includes an enhanced zip-off cover with double the cool-to-touch comfort combined with a super-stretch inner layer that helps you feel cooler when you lie down. The outer layer is also removable and washable. This design is found in our breeze° Collection.

PURECOOL™ VS. PURECOOL+™

Our reinvented PureCool+™ Phase Change Material is an exclusive formula that’s lighter-weight and more breathable to enable better airflow. This material also has a thinner capsule wall, providing more cooling power per cubic foot than our previous technology.

TCM VS. TEMPUR-CM+™: Climate Management

Next-generation TEMPUR-CM+™ Material is a series of all-new formulations placed in the comfort layer, so you can more fully feel its cooling power. An optimized cellular structure provides more airflow and breathability than our previous technology. This material is directly infused with PureCool+™ Phase Change Material.
